12.21.09 - Title II of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008, which prohibits genetic information discrimination in
employment, took effect on November 21, 2009.


11.04.09 - President Obama, on October 28, 2009, signed the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2010 (NDAA) which
expands provisions to Military Family Leave Entitlements within the FMLA.  

10.23.09 - The EEOC has revised its “Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law” poster. This new version reflects current federal
employment discrimination law (including the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008). The poster was revised to
add information about the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008, which is effective November 21, 2009. The revised
poster also includes updates from the Department of Labor.

10.16.09 - To ensure the protection of frontline healthcare and emergency medical workers at high risk of infection with H1N1
virus, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will soon issue a compliance directive to ensure uniform procedures when
conducting inspections to identify and minimize or eliminate high to very high risk occupational exposures to the 2009 H1N1
influenza A virus.

10.09.09 - City Utilities are required to developed and implement an Identity Theft Prevention Program pursuant to the Federal Trade
Commission’s (FTC) Red Flags Rule.

9.29.09 - On September 16, 2009, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission voted to approve a Notice of Proposed
Rulemaking (NPRM) to conform its ADA regulations to the Amendments Act of 2008. The NPRM was published in the Federal
Register on September 23, 2009. The Commission has also issued a question and answer guide on the NPRM.

9.15.09 - U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that the Office of Management and Budget has extended its
approval of Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) to Aug. 31, 2012. Consequently, USCIS has amended the form to reflect a
new revision date of Aug. 7, 2009.
